As a new mom, it is natural that you are caught up with all the excitement prepping for the little one along with the nursery and the daily routine tasks if you are already a mom too.

My last trimester has been really busy and overwhelming with diagnoses of gestational diabetes, special dietary requirements, moving to a new home and then doing our sitting and room all over again from scratch which was not easy!!! But I am glad we are over it.

In my first pregnancy, I delivered at 30 weeks and never had a chance to prepare for what comes after knows as 4thtrimester. This time I wanted to be prepared. As I started planning for my postpartum I wanted to be prepared in terms of my physical(healing and hygiene) and dietary needs knowing that I would be going for a surgery and this time I have an elder kid too and I am far away from my family support system.

I wanted to have my Postpartum Basket ready so that I can have it at my comfort once I come home rather than asking my husband to run to pharmacy at the last minute. I looked and read on all the essentials that a new mommy needs, came across a few wonderful websites too who were providing the services for sending all the essentials in a pack to new mommies. Which was also a good idea to gift to expecting mommies by their relatives and friends. But looking at the pricing and products I decided to make my own Postpartum Basket.

Here is how I did it?

You can take any basket or a box and wrap it as per your liking. I decided to take a box of some crockery items and covered it with a wrapping sheet of my choice.

What’s inside in my Postpartum-Basket

Knowing I am going to go through planned surgery unless the universe changes the plan before

The herbal perineal mist has witch hazel, lavender, and peppermint, frequent sprays at toilet trips helps in easing in discomfort after birth.

It is essential for early lactation and helps in soothing the Cracked nipples. If you are planning on breastfeeding then this is a must-have in your postpartum essentials and has no preservatives or additives.

These contoured shape nursing pads also have an adhesive strip for a secure fit. The cushiony-soft lining comforts the soreness. The breathable backing locks away moisture.

The Momwasher is designed specially to be held upside down to make perineal care easy post-delivery. Lightweight travel bag makes it easier on the go. You can easily clean the mom washer by disassembling and washing in warm and soapy water.

These medicated Cooling Pads are pH balanced and dye-free. The witch hazel soothes and protects the irritated areas. They are used to clean the outer areas or can be folded and used as a moist compress on inflamed tissue.

  • Wipes
  • Maternity Pads
  • Tylenol

You can make 2 baskets and keep in every washroom for your convenience if you will be using multiple washrooms. I hope it helps if there is any suggestion.
