We all have 24 hours in a day. Some people have more things accomplished and not that they have more hours it is just that they are better at managing time. And let me tell you Time Management is a skill that can be learned.

Every entrepreneur makes a decision for themselves they are the main driving force behind their company/venture. Being a Mompreneur and working from home time management is essential for me to grow my venture.

Let’s start with “What are the four Ds of time management”

This quick and simple method makes sure you use your time more effectively by sorting tasks into four categories:

Delete,

Delegate,

Defer

Do.

Here are some of my time management tips for entrepreneurs with a 9 to 5. It did wonders for me hope it helps you too.

TIP#1: STRATEGY OF SCHEDULING

We should always explicitly put a task in the calendar, designate the time and day for the task it the most important thing. It helps you focus and prioritize the agenda at hand.

Scheduling is best to avoid any last-minute issues.

How to do it

Write it down, it will keep things on track and on time. I started writing down points that I wanted to attain each month. Splitting those tasks into weekly goals and then daily objectives.

Keeping in mind those daily objectives I plan my day keeping those tasks to be done in time slots.

It made such a change in my daily routine and incredibly great. Honestly, it was very therapeutic for me, I use to look forward to it, writing it down helped me achieve more and improve more on daily bases.

It helps me see where I can utilize my time.

TIP#2: WORK IN MORNING

I have always been a morning person. I believe starting earlier always gives you time to deal with your day proactively. I make sure I prepare my to-do list for the next day a night before so I know where I have to start from the next day.

How to do

Being an entrepreneur and managing the house is not an easy job but to get the most out of the days I started waking up earlier in the morning before anyone in the house.

The most amount of energy we have is in the morning. I always start with a most difficult task because self-control is at its peak in the morning, dealing with the goal of the day it gives my morning a kick start and when my day starts at 9 I have done a major chunk of my to do list. Waking up earlier on weekends and restricting social media during work hours did wonders for me.

TIP#3: WEEKLY AND MONTHLY GOALS

As an entrepreneur, we often lose track of time because of no proper schedule. Working hours are all over the place. To complete things on time and be on the right track start with monthly and weekly targets. It helps you plan and achieve your long-term goals.

How to do

Start with daily goals for each task for example if you want to change the look of your E-store start with choosing the theme color and logo on Monday and designate 90 minutes of your day on this work. Set a timer, because as you know the human brain can work effectively on one task for not more than 90 minutes.

Then on Tuesday decide the fonts and pictures about page on your store this way u will work more effectively and within a week you can achieve a whole new outlook for your E-store while working on your 9 to 5.

The same is the case if you want to learn an extra skill in 30 days to upgrade your skill level start giving it 30 minutes of your schedule. so, every day if you achieve that objective you are going to contribute towards your monthly goal.

TIP#4: TIME MANAGEMENT TOOLS

Calendars have long been a vital tool for time management. However, online calendars have taken its to place now, there are many tools that can be used for time management it’s what makes you comfortable.

WHAT TO USE

Many options are available like a digital or online calendar, note‑taking software, time tracker, specialized time management apps, and so on.

For every time management tool, you can find many different software solutions you can also use planners to write and even post-it notes, it’s what makes your work and time management. If you are already using something and you are contented then don’t change it and consume it more.

Personally, I use Google Calendar (both on my phone and laptop) and Reminders from IOS. I think it’s the best. But Outlook and Apple Calendar also work well.

TIP#5: BATCH COOKING TO SAVE TIME

As a full-time, mom of a teenager and a toddler batch cooking saves me loads and loads of time and headache I think it is every household issue to what to cook? And what for a snack? To make my life easier I have started doing batch cooking twice a week.

How to plan

To save lots of anxiety I have started meal planning, I make a list of our meals for the coming week check the pantry what’s missing then make the grocery list, it takes only a few minutes and you are all set for the week.

I cook mostly on Monday and Thursdays.

Try this it’s a lifesaver for Mompreneur!

Bonus tip: I always have frozen homemade curry masala onions n tomatoes which save cooking time. I make it and freeze it while m doing batch cooking.

TIP#5: Always have Plan B

It is not necessary everything goes according to the plan, sometimes unforeseen things happen for example anyone in the family can get sick even you can get under the weather or have to go on a work trip or just simply non-availability of certain things, extreme weather, etc.

I always make sure I have a plan B in place, it helps me avoid unnecessary stress and tension and I am on track relating to my business plans.

With kids, you don’t know how your day might look like so always have plan B. I always have my personal deadline of the project 48 hours before the actual deadline just to keep a cushion considering contingency planning.

TIP#6: LEARN TO OUTSOURCE

I was one of those people who always avoid asking for help or accepting the fact that I need help. Learned the hard way that we should work smart than to work hard.

Understand that you are not a company full of employees, you are 1 or maybe 2 or 3 people. So, try to understand the capacity in terms of human resources, and if you need help in terms of work or home or food. Try outsourcing it.

When I know that my week is super busy with deadlines I usually order pre-cooked meals for workdays lunch for husband and son.

These are some of the tips that helped me a lot, I hope they benefit you too!
