One struggle that us Pardesis go through that no one talks about is that even when you are back and visting…. You feel like an outsider at times too.

It’s so queer to see how the same city you are born n brought up in changes meaning for you in different phases of life.

Like a lover you count moments to be in the streets of your beloved city but the next moment the bitter memories takes you back into nostalgia of how you lost your loved ones here ....and how life would have been if they were here in the same city as you are right now! How this place does not feel same anymore

The hollowness of being present yet not being there makes you look for your older self ....and finding that in the alley of your mind ...it reminds you of why you are not the same you used to be.

A dilemma of connecting with people yet not being able to find them relatable any more due to how the curve balls life threw at each of you made all the difference and disconnect!

If someone had told me in my teenage that I would be living far away from Lahore I would say that’s not possible but how I am living now as it is willingly is cognizant how you change your plans change over years!

It’s complicated ... It’s like visiting the place that made you …YOU… but still feeling like out of place.
P.S i am in Lahore but I am still missing Lahore !
