No hosting. No daawats. Just getting ready for nam No hosting. No daawats.
Just getting ready for namaaz and then heading out for brunch — and honestly, that was Eid for us this year. 🤍

No matter who was coming or not, Eid at our house has always looked like the dastarkhawaan is ready ever since I got married. But this time, we kept it slow.

Living abroad, Eid can start feeling like a performance sometimes. Instagram shows lavish get-togethers, coordinated tablescapes, and endless potluck parties… but what people don’t always see is the effort and emotional labor behind recreating every little piece of Eid away from home.

Back home, Eid existed naturally around us. The smells, the sounds, the relatives dropping by, the chaos, the excitement — it all happened on its own. Here, every tradition has to be planned, organized, cooked, invited, decorated, and carried by someone.

And when you’re in that season of becoming a half empty nester too… Eid feels different in ways you can’t always explain. A little quieter. A little softer. A little more reflective.

So this year, slow… felt enough.
