Unlearning productivity and social media reality ?Maternity leave after Ayaan taught me something I never expected: I had to unlearn the definition of productivity I had learnt over years !

I struggled with the simplest things.

Not making the bed.
Still being in pajamas at noon.
Not checking things off my mental to-do list.
Feeling like I hadn’t done anything that day.

But I was taking care of a baby. I was navigating a completely new version of myself. And somehow, I still felt like I needed to prove that I was being “productive.”

Slowly, I learned to give myself grace.

A clean house wasn’t a measure of my worth.
A completed checklist wasn’t proof that my day mattered.
And rest didn’t mean I was being lazy.

Social media can make this even harder. We see the organized homes, the productive mornings, the perfectly put-together lives — and start wondering why ours doesn’t look like that.

But we’re comparing our real life to someone else’s highlight reel.

No one shows 100% of their life.

So if your bed isn’t made by noon, you’re still doing okay. ❤️

As my child heads back to school, I have one wish

As my child heads back to school, I have one wish that feels bigger than grades, milestones or achievements:

May he be surrounded by kind people.

People who are patient when he struggles to communicate.
People who don’t mistake his differences for bad behaviour.
People who include him, even when he doesn’t know how to join in.
People who see the child before they see the diagnosis.

Because for our autistic kids,
sometimes the greatest gift we can give them
is a world that chooses kindness. Ameen
