Phir waqt bhot hi thoda hai, aur saare kaam zaroori hain.!!!! Trying to get back to routine after a wholesome family trip !
I remember travelling with him for the first time I remember travelling with him for the first time in 2021 - transit of 5 hours at the busy airport was the hardest it was so overwhelming for him
The lights, visuals … crowd …smell of food … loud auditory input .. everything in the environment made him overwhelm that too after a long flight where he didn’t eat or sleep? And i cried sitting there because i didnt know how to travel and make him feel calm n safe in this busy rushing fast pace world.

Travelling with him has been intentional to help him overcome his auditory and sensory challenges along with getting used to transitions. But has it been an easy journey? No … but has he made progress? YES

What really made me happy in a long transit at @hiaqatar this time was finding their multi sensory room with kids on autism spectrum.

The multi-sensory room is equipped with a wide range of devices that achieve calm and balance in a safe environment for children on the Autism spectrum and
those with special needs. The use of the room is free of charge from the age of 2 to 12 years for a maximum of 2 hours and it is open 24 hours a day. You need to show your passport and boarding pass. The lounge, located between gates C7 and C9.

We spent good 2 hours there and it was fav part of being at airport.
I hope all other big airports with major transit start making safe sensory spaces like this

I still remember… Rushing to the hospital in th I still remember…

Rushing to the hospital in the middle of the day from work at 7 months pregnant, with pains I thought were false labor — but they weren’t!

How scared I was to hold you when you were finally out of the incubator.

How I would wake up in the middle of the night, terrified, just to check on you — and cry, overwhelmed with gratitude to Allah for the miracle that you are.

How much I cried on the drive to work the first time I left you after my maternity leave ended.

I can’t believe you’re turning 18 today! Where did all the time go?

You have been my son, my closest friend, and the best listener when I needed one the most.

May you always be surrounded by people who bring out the best in you — and may you always be among those who are loved by Allah. Ameen.

P.S. This is the only time I’m allowed to post your picture — so I took the chance and picked one from each year!

Next time someone says any insensitive thing about Next time someone says any insensitive thing about Autism or your Autistic child take a pause and try to educate them! Most of the time i am told “but he doesnt look Autistic” or he doenst look autistic NOW. Do you even know what autism looks like ? Do you know it doesnt have a look … do you know its a spectrum and if you know one autistic person you only know one autistic person! Each autistic person can be totally different than the other. - autism awareness - autism mom - autism parent - autism journey- southasian parent - canadian pakistani - pakistani in canada
They say you will never be home again … you will They say you will never be home again … you will always be split emotionally and physically… your heart will be torn between cities and memories… the price you pay when you choose to live away … when you find happiness in more than one place !
